Very important information:
***
This is a 10 day trip covering approximately 2,400miles (3,840km), with us moving between 9 countries and spending 9 nights in budget accommodation and even camping.
Nearly 40 Peugeot 205s of varying types and specifications - some road cars, some dedicated for track-days and motorsport events - will be aiming to follow the below program:
Day 1 (May 1st) – The France Rendezvous
The UK cars will cross from Dover to Calais, heading for
Reims Gueux Circuit to meet up with the Polish, Dutch and Belgium cars.
Then the cars drive towards Sochaux, the site of the
Peugeot Museum of Adventure. En-route, the convoy splits as some move on directly to the hotel via some very scenic routes, and the others spend a few hours at this spectacular museum. This should be quite exciting for the drivers and we hope a flattering, but befitting tribute to Peugeot as a company, with a visit by so many 205s.
Day 2 (May 2nd) – The Italian Job
Leaving Sochaux, the convoy - in manageable groups of cars - heads towards Bracchio in Italy via Switzerland and the start of the thrilling roads in the Alps: the
Susten,
Furka and
Simplon Passes.
We have our first option to camp this second night.
Day 3 (May 3rd) – Stelvio: The Big One
From Bracchio we head for the one Top Gear say is the best drivers' road in the world: the
Stelvio Pass. Of course the roads either side will also be spectacular, as we make our way towards
Lake Iseo, where again some will choose to camp near the comfortably warm waters.
Day 4 (May 4th) – Making the Objective: Croatia
Iseo to
Pula in Croatia is the final outbound leg. This takes the cars past Venice, and via the picturesque and historical
castle at Miramare.
Also on this leg is the second rendezvous, with the 205 GTI fans and drivers from Slovenia (and possibly other locations), who will join us on the final push south via some fantastic coastal views into Pula.
Pula is the final rally point, where Bosnian, Croatian, Bulgarian, Romanian and possibly Turkish 205 fans will also join us. We plan to go group go-karting here and have co-ordinated our visit with the local tourist board to ensure this many cars arriving at once and wanting to socialise can do so without causing (too much) disruption.
Days 5-9 (May 5th to 9th) – Rest, Socialising, Preparation & then Return
After a day off (of driving), we plan to move across to
Plitvice Lakes, to soak up the roads, the beauty and the atmosphere of so many 205 GTIs and fans being in such scenic magnificence.
Potentially over-nighting at Plitvice, we then head north, back into Slovenia, to enjoy more water and the sights at
Lake Bled.
After that it’s north again into Austria towards
one of the largest water parks in the world.
After Austria we return through the mountains, but this time enjoying the
San Bernardino,
Gotthard and
Klausen Passes, before continuing to head north into Germany and onto the
Nurburgring.
Day 10 (May 10th) – Final Rendezvous & Home Leg
A final 10 cars or so from Holland and Belgium will join us when we’ve left the 147 corners and 13 miles of ‘The Ring’ and arrive at the
Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
We then make the last push back into France to make the ferry back across the Channel.
